Let’s Talk About Depression: It’s More Than Just Being Sad

Sadness is a natural response to something that happens outside of yourself, it comes, and it goes. It’s a temporary feeling, you feel something is missing, but it always broke up with other feelings. Depression isn’t sadness it is a permanent state of mind. You simply don’t want to get out of it. Depression sometimes is the person you would never have expected.

Depression isn’t the person screaming out for help they are the person who battles silently with their pain. You try to convince your happiness, mould your sorrow, but every time you find possible reasons to shed tears. But people wouldn’t hear your sob because you really don’t know why you are crying. You try to understand yourself.

You want to be with the people you want to talk to whom you trust the most the same time you push them away.

You either don’t swallow down a piece of eateries or starve for hunger. Either, you spend sleepless nights awake at 2 am staring the ceiling or you just don’t get out of the bed.

In the happiest moments, you cling to it doesn’t seem to go away ever. Depression creeps and lurks. And your joyful moment comes, it is still hovering over you, even you are trying to stay away, it nails you down, control your brain. It haunts you, you become slant your body locked you feel paralyzed.

It is slowly killing you, filling your heart with hollowness and endless pain. The pain that no one can see, but you can feel its burnings. When depression has you, you cannot stop thinking about your guilt, shame, and inadequacy. You become fester in resentment of who you are.

You just don’t know what is wrong with you and how to fix it. It’s just a feeling you can’t shake. You try to become overcompensate in relationships and be hard on you. You are a great pretender you know how to cover your melancholy with a fake smile.

Deadly thoughts provoke you to end your life. You are forced to think there is no hope in life, you don’t feel loved, sometimes, you feel left out you think people don’t understand you, you don’t deserve love, you are not good enough to be loved. You cage yourself where every hope of sunshine disappear. You even find hard to accept yourself.

But someday, the scary moment comes when you spit out your empty heart. You know people will turn to you without judgment. They open up to embrace, you reach a new level of friendship it almost brings you to tears. You learn to love yourself.

Remember, depression is a strength in you because there’s nothing harder than overcoming demons within yourself.
